What do you think of Stanton Friedman….head of MUFON?
http://www.stantonfriedman.com/
The main issue is that they keep presenting “findings” and discoveries as fact without correlation.
They can’t keep the identities of CIA operatives a secret for 10 years, nor the plans of the space shuttle, nor the existence of any of the stealth planes, nor even our operations in some countries of our enemies… but they can keep this a secret for 50 years???
Seriously, this is either completely anomalous (where secrets are concerned) or truly amazing. US government employees (as with anyone who discovers something unethical or illegal) become protected “whistleblowers” under the law, and cannot have any official sanctions against them for stepping forward. This leaves unofficial sanctions… and someone who was proved to be killed after stepping forward would be a martyr. Clear cases of suicide wouldn’t count, and anyone who’s smart won’t do anything that resembles a suicide, even under threat of death from someone else. Making them kill you means exposing them. Therefore, they won’t actually kill you if you’ve come forward already and speaking out thus gives you power.
I’ve been chasing UFO’s for 15 years, and in that time I’ve never actually seen anything I could solidly say was alien (and nothing I couldn’t explain away). I have, however, seen good evidence that something is occurring, even if I don’t understand what that something is.
On the other hand, I’ve been chasing ghosts for 15 years, too, and I have had personal experiences with them. I can clearly say that my personal experience allows me to believe that there’s something happening, but I don’t have solid evidence that leads me to conclude what that “something happening” might actually be.
Being willing to admit that you don’t have all of the answers tends to lend credibility. Stanton Friedman (and the bulk of other “UFO hunters” that I’ve met) tend to claim a lot of things without supporting evidence. I have not had proof in the form of either personal experience or incontrovertible evidence that there is any activity occurring. However, in spite of this, the activities of our government here in the US do point to the idea of a cover-up, particularly with nothing in the way of even minimal efforts to actually validate or invalidate what’s being said.
With the spike in UFO reporting in 1995/1996 (and the resulting enormous climb since then), there is considerable evidence that some people are filing fake reports, just as there is evidence that some people are filing reports that corroborate with others, particularly on details that could not be known by both parties.
There’s something to what Stanton and MUFON want to accomplish, but until they’re willing to admit what they don’t know to be “unknown” instead of trying to gloss it over and redirect, I can’t consider either Mr. Friedman or his organization credible.
