Most of the material was disproven over time, but that was heard about a lot less than the sensationalism the book and movie enjoyed when they came out.

Another story from the 50’s claimed that radio transmissions from aircraft panicingly made a statement just before they disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. “Don’t try to come after us, they look like they’re from outer space.” Was the alleged transmission. How heroic of them not to want rescue! It’s interesting that when interviewed years later, NO ONE WHO WAS PRESENT in the control tower at the time remembered anything unusual.

I would think a transmission about being chased by aliens would stick in my mind for life.
